GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast is now available via the OpenAI API and to eligible ChatGPT Work and Codex users, running on NVIDIA Blackwell GPU infrastructure. OpenAI claims the mode delivers up to 8x faster token generation compared to Astra Standard, a figure the company attributes to inference optimizations tuned for the Blackwell architecture. The speed gain targets agentic developer workflows: shorter edit-test-debug cycles, reduced latency between tool calls and more responsive applications. OpenAI says it used its own models to optimize inference software on NVIDIA hardware, and plans ongoing performance improvements post-deployment.
