AWS Launches Claude Haiku 5.5, Nova 2.5 Sonic, and GuardDuty Query Detection
AWS adds cheaper AI models, voice agent improvements, and database query threat detection.
Amazon Web Services released several enterprise-focused updates this week. Claude Haiku 5.5 is now available on Amazon Bedrock at roughly 75 percent less than Haiku 4.5, per AWS, and introduces per-task effort controls. Amazon Nova 2.5 Sonic adds lower latency and improved tool-calling for real-time voice agents across seven languages. Amazon GuardDuty RDS Protection now monitors query-level activity on Aurora PostgreSQL and RDS for PostgreSQL, using ML-based anomaly detection to flag unusual data access without requiring agents or configuration changes. AWS Lambda also added OAuth support for self-managed Apache Kafka event sources, enabling integration with enterprise identity providers including Amazon Cognito and Okta.
